Over at Abubakar Jamil blog, I was reading his post titled ‘Light at the end of the funnel‘ and it got me thinking, it got me thinking so deeply I ended up having a to put everything else aside and dig up this quote – this was a quote which lifted me up when I needed lifting, guided me when I needed guidance, gave me love when I needed to be loved.
I dedicate this quote to Abubakar Jamil and I hope this guides you like it did for me:
God turns you from one feeling to another and teaches by means of opposites, so that you will have two wings to fly, not one.
– Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi
Thank you for finding Rumi’s quote. Words bursting with insight.
Rumi is within us all, but we need to search our own world first before we search the outer – knowledge is yours where ever you find it.
Excellent quote my friend and I am honored by your mentioning me. Thank a lot.
I am honoured that you gave me something to think about hence the birth of this post. May we receive guidance to perfect our characters.
Salam,
This reminds of ibn Qayyim’s advice:

Jazakallah khairan.
Zaufishan, Welcome
Yes – Qayyim’s advice is making the same point but from another angle. What we experience in life, being good or bad is really just something that gives us more understanding of ourselves. If we don’t get tested then how do we find out more about ourselves?
To really know ‘who I am’ we need to go through ups and downs and tested in many ways, only then can we really start to see how beautiful we are (no matter what the conditions or environment is).
